Overview

Hull CVS Established in 1981, Hull CVS has been supporting the development of both the third sector and volunteering in Hull for over 30 years. Our support extends to grassroots level community groups and voluntary organisations, through to registered charities and social enterprises. Our aims are to support the development of new groups and organisations; to bring the third sector together to share information and good practice; to promote the valuable work of the sector and the importance of volunteering to the city; to provide support services which help groups to improve their work for maximum impact; and to enable groups to have a voice on issues of concern. As an infrastructure charity, the services offered by Hull CVS include providing an information service to the sector; supporting the recruitment and management of volunteers; delivering governance and constitutional advice and support to organisations; and providing a range of direct business support functions including networking opportunities, training, funding advice, and HR, finance and payroll services to enable organisations to start, grow and develop. In addition to supporting the local sector, Hull CVS also directly delivers a range of local authority contracts and grant funded projects to support Hull’s local communities. These include a range of volunteering programmes; a direct payment service; and the administration of a number of small grant programmes for local Charitable Trusts. Meeting New Horizons (MNH) Founded in 2011 by Hull CVS, MNH was established as a subsidiary arm aimed at utilising the parent company’s 30 plus years’ experience of delivering community projects and supporting the third sector in Hull, and extending this benefit across the Yorkshire and Humber region. In its short history, MNH has been successfully awarded a number of major public sector contracts to deliver services in Doncaster, North Lincolnshire and the East Riding, in the areas of third sector support, welfare to work, and health and social care. Rainbow Nursery In August 2012, Hull CVS acquired Rainbow Nursery based in the Avenues area of Hull. In its role in supporting local communities, Hull CVS at that time identified the potential impact the closure of the nursery would have on the families in that area who so strongly relied on having a dependable nursery in close proximity to their home and work. Since then, the nursery has gone from strength to strength, providing childcare to upwards of 50 placements and receiving a Good Ofsted rating. Rainbow Pre-School In November 2017, Hull CVS opened a second setting of its childcare provision, also in the Avenues area of Hull. Following the success of Rainbow Nursery, Hull CVS wanted to increase the provision of childcare services it offered and to meet the needs of a lot of teachers with children who wanted a term-time only service. This new setting is Ofsted approved and operates term time, accommodating up to 36 children aged between 3 and 5.
