The Home Modification Occupational Therapy Alliance (HMOTA) is an organization of occupational therapists throughout the United States that specialize in home modifications. The occupational therapists in the Home Modification Occupational Therapy Alliance are dedicated to on-going learning of leading edge technology and research in the realm of home modifications, safety, technology, products, design, and fall prevention. The Home Modification Occupational Therapy Alliance (HMOTA) members are dedicated to promoting occupational therapists as leaders in the home modification for accessibility field and developing a lucrative business model for OT home mods. At this time HMOTA is open to all occupational therapists interested in home modifications and home modification businesses. We have a OT home modification forum (www.hmota.org) and we meet online the first and third Mondays of every month at 8:00 pm eastern time to discuss business, listen to speakers and to advocate for funding at a national and state level for occupational therapy home evaluations, design and home modification follow-up therapy. In the future we are planning on adding other professionals to our group, since effective home modifications require a team approach. At this time we are still in the process of organizing.
