The Hellenic Fridge Recycling S.A. (H.F.R. S.A.) was founded in 2006 and it is the first company in Greece to recycle refrigerators, cooling and freezing appliances (CFA). It is a joint venture between Hellenic Recycling Center S.A. (EKAN) and OSL. HFR is the first company in Greece to be awarded the international WEEELABEX certificate for the demanufacture of end-of-life refrigeration equipment. Additionally, HFR S.A. is the only certified under full application of the treatment standards EN 50574 and CLC/TS 50574-2 company in Greece. In July 2008, the company signed a contract with Appliances Recycling S.A., the official collective system authorised by the Greek Ministry of Environment to manage the WEEE in Greece. With the implementation of BAT- Best Available Technology our company treats approximately 10 000 tns of fridges per year consisting the main fridge operator of Greek market .
