Overview

The "HELENUS" project aims to demonstrate the potential of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) in decarbonizing shipping through highly efficient onboard cogeneration of power and heat. A 500 kW SOFC will be demonstrated onboard an ocean-going cruise ship by 2027. Laboratory testing will be performed to emulate the operation of various scaled-up implementations of SOFCs over a wide range of maritime applications with future carbon-neutral fuels. HELENUS is funded by the European Union under the "Horizon Europe" Programme with Grant agreement ID: 101056784
