Overview

Heart of Midlothian Community Football is a not-for-profit department that sits within the main structure of the professional football club. We deliver a large number of initiatives that aim to help support and grow our game and our communities. Football can achieve a lot of things in the community that transcends the playing field. It has the power to help people develop life skills and habits that contribute to education, health & fitness, employment and social interaction. Combined with attributes and techniques that can be fostered on the pitch, we endeavour to work with partners and groups to help nurture the game at grassroots level so individuals of all ages, abilities and backgrounds can benefit from the sport. Our range of programmes fall into four key areas: Increasing Participation – To advance our game we need more people taking part more often. Through our participation programmes such as soccer centres, holiday courses, 50+ walking football and new Play the Game initiative, we are providing opportunities to develop a love for playing football and encouraging life-long involvement. Developing People – We aim to contribute to the improvement of players and individuals both on and off the field at grassroots clubs and schools, by providing quality support through our own coaches, volunteers programmes and partners. Attractive Game – Through our own programmes, and at activities delivered by local clubs, we want to help them create a culture and environment that attracts and retains players, coaches, leaders and volunteers. We do this by making people feel welcome, valued and by giving them the opportunity to develop and progress. Club Services – We are fortunate to have forged a number of positive partnerships with organisations, businesses and funders that help us provide opportunities to support people in our community with various ‘off the pitch’ programmes in areas such as health, education and social responsibility.
