Hassan First University was legitimately created in 1997. The aim behind its creation was to strengthen the regionalization system set to encourage decentralization and by that, taking into account the specificities and local needs of the Chaouia-Ouardigha region in terms of education, training and research. Hassan First University is part of a 15 universities network across the country. It is under the supervision of the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education, Scientific Research and ProfessionalTraining. Hassan First University has developped two main sites: Settat, and Berrechid. On the other hand, the scientific priorities of the University today lead it to strongly invest in the professionalization of training without neglecting the fundamental sectors. The University also attaches great importance to distance learning and the various ICTs.
