Overview

The Harvard Gender and Sexuality Caucus (HGSC) is composed of 5,000+ gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Harvard/Radcliffe alumni/ae, faculty, staff and students. HGSC organizes globally to build community among LGBTQ alumni/ae and to advocate for their interests. Please visit http://hglc.org for details, or follow us on Twitter @hgscwire. ----- The HGSC was formed as the Harvard Gay and Lesbian Caucus in 1984 to pressure Harvard University to include sexual orientation in its non-discrimination policy. As of 2013, we have started to transition to our new name: Harvard Gender and Sexuality Caucus. The new name recognizes the diverse members that make up our community, and bring us in line with Harvard's Committee on Degrees in Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality. HGSC's purposes include: - Building a sense of community among Harvard and Radcliffe gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people; - Maintaining and expanding a network of LGBTQ alumni/ae; - Pressing for a non-discriminatory and diverse academic, living and working environment at Harvard; - Educating others and ourselves about LGBTQ concerns and contributions; - Undertaking community service projects; and - Encouraging informal coordination among LGBTQ student groups throughout the University.
