Mission The Harold Webster Smith Foundation advances community revitalization across Connecticut by serving as a convener, funder and thought partner committed to guiding collaborative, community-driven solutions to pressing socio-economic needs and emerging opportunities, with a particular focus on housing. Strategic Direction As a results-oriented philanthropy, the Foundation builds collaborative relationships with a wide range of national, state and local partners and seeks to leverage knowledge and resources to advance equity and reduce socio-economic disparities. With a priority for supporting initiatives that expand housing opportunities, the Foundation endeavors to inspire and foster creative, sustainable solutions. Founded in 1997, the Foundation honors the service and memory of Harold Webster Smith, Webster Bank’s founder and long-time citizen of Waterbury, Connecticut.
