The story of this project started one day waiting impatiently in a traffic jam in the middle of an air pollution crisis that one of the main cities in Colombia was suffering. Same as many people there, we were complaining about the air quality, the time we were losing sit there and more important, nobody was doing anything to solve those problems. We do not know why or how, but we had this Aha moment! something changed in us and we realized that we had the ability to help with the solution instead of being part of the problem. With this motivation, we set a group of awesome engineers with international experience in sustainable transportation projects. All of us with one unique goal: Find a possible solution that really solves the environmental problem we have in Colombian cities. So we got the ball rolling and we founded Hakuna with the conviction to imagine, design, and create electric vehicles made by Colombians to Colombians. We decided to approach the problem from 3 different angles: First, we will focus on micro-mobility solutions with the development of a small, portable, and practical vehicle that can commute people in their daily journeys. This vehicle is a complement to the existing public transportation means like taxis, buses, or even metro. Nowadays, the most popular vehicle in the country is the motorcycle powered with gasoline. That is why our second approach will be the development of an electric motorcycle, a niche that has huge potential to reduce the emission of gases. Finally, the third part of the plan will be the creation of a 2-seat car, thought to be a vehicle more efficient to be used in the city, in terms of size, consumption, and convenience. Our aim is to improve the environment as much as we can. We are tired to see how our planet is being destroyed and we decided not to be cross-armed while the world is getting worse.
