Overview

The majority of our work remains signposting LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans) people from all backgrounds, regardless of age, gender, ability or race, in and around Greater Manchester, to the support services and social groups, in order to raise awareness of the support available and improve lives. Shortly after coming out, our founder became aware of the mass of (mainly city-centre) organisations - services and social groups - and also quickly realised how poor they were/are at outreach and self-promotion (in the city centre let alone further afield or in local communities where there is a real need). With a background in marketing he often see things from the outside and is passionate about acting on seizing opportunities that others haven’t yet been acted on (surprisingly). After attending various events and connecting with other partners, leading to funding being secured, that is when we were conceived(!), albeit on a more local level (his hometown). Alongside the network, we decided to organise local prides in Wythenshawe and Trafford and reignite the failed plans for Stockport Pride, with plans for one in Rochdale and support for others in the area. These highly successful events have improved communities and been a great tool for organisations to promote their services to those who need them most. The physical network has been matched with an online directory which will be launched next year.
