Graeme Dingle Foundation Marlborough’s mission is to deliver programmes proven to bring positive changes to the lives of young people at the top of the south / Te Tau Ihu. Presently we have five transformational programmes in Marlborough: 1. Our “Kiwi Can” programme builds lifelong skills, positive relationships & qualities such as integrity, respect & resilience amongst our primary school-aged children; 2. Stars Teina provides a bridge for our Year 7 & 8s - between Kiwi Can (in primary schools) & Stars (in college) - to ensure effective transition to college & reduced anxiety. 3. Stars – Our peer mentoring programme helping college students build trusting relationships, enabling them to reach out to each other in times of need; 4. “Career Navigator” is our unique mentoring programme which connects our college students with local industry, career pathways & eye-opening opportunities; 5. “Toroa Career Navigator” - an intensive programme for 15-25-year-olds in Marlborough who are not currently in work or training - but keen to be! What all of these programmes have in common is: * They build self-efficacy, confidence & resilience; * They develop the skills & attributes necessary to succeed in the communities & workplaces of the future; * They succeed because we help our young people develop relationships with a “significant other” as a positive influence in their life (in the form of role models &/or mentors); * They support our tamariki & rangatahi in their journey & key transitions from age 5 to 25. Our tamariki & rangatahi need to learn the skills & strategies to develop into resilient young people who can cope & thrive, & become contributing members of our society. They need to learn how to work together, to understand other perspectives, to collaborate for mutual success, &, importantly, how to bounce back from setbacks.
