Overview

The Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce is a membership based organization that has been the business voice of New Britain for nearly a century. The focus of the Chamber is business oriented; helping to strengthen and retain businesses currently in the community and to attract new and dynamic businesses; helping businesses to increase their customer base and cut their business costs; making assets and resources available to restore the city’s commercial base; and marketing the features and benefits to help promote the image of a community ripe for reinvestment. In addition, the Chamber is home to a unique partnership with the City of New Britain’s Municipal Economic Development Agency, which works with the Chamber on a focused economic development strategy for the city’s business community. Chamber Membership Benefits Networking: We hold networking events, informational seminars and other events where you can meet other business owners and expand your base of customers. These events include Business Breakfast Meetings, Business After Hours events, Women’s A.M. Network meetings, the Volunteerism Luncheon, and the Business Expo. There are also event sponsorship opportunities through Chamber General Membership, Annual Meeting, and Golf Outings to increase visibility. Small Business Counseling: Small business counseling is offered free of charge for people who are interested in starting or expanding a business. A retired business executive from the business-based group SCORE meets with clients in the Chamber offices. Additional services are available from Chamber staff for office space or marketing assistance. Government Affairs: Government affairs assistance for your business at both the local and state level is also provided by the Chamber. Whether it is representation at a board or commission meeting for zoning issues or larger workplace issues such as workers’ compensation costs being discussed at the Capitol, the Chamber will work for you.
