Two years and dozens of prototypes later, the MicroWash is ready. No pain = gain! It is no longer necessary to experience high levels of pain and discomfort when you must collect a nasal sample to test for COVID or other respiratory pathogens, such as influenza. The MicroWash is less invasive and produces a better specimen for testing. The MicroWash demonstrated 100% cellular capture from the nasopharyngeal cavity. The MicroWash demonstrated consistently lower cycle threshold (CT) values in polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing. Lower CT value means better test samples and more accurate results. Patients are more accepting of the MicroWash. Compared to the nasopharyngeal swab (8/10 pain scale), patients reported the MicroWash (0.3/10 pain scale) as being significantly more comfortable. 100% of patients said they would use the MicroWash at home. Only 25% said they would use the nasopharyngeal swab at home. Higher compliance with testing results in more accurate data and better health outcomes. Minimal training needed. The MicroWash can be administered by the health professional or self-administered by the patient.
