FutureGro PTY Ltd is a South African Project Development Company that aims to develop, own and operate greenhouse farming and Waste to Energy projects throughout Africa. Pioneers in the horticultural field, we utilize advanced greenhouse and biogas technology to create an innovative sustainable business model for South Africa and eventually the rest of Africa, including the groundbreaking Holfontein Greenhouse & Biogas Project which began development in 2015. Our commercial enterprise will contribute to diversifying the South African energy mix away from coal, which today still forms over 90% of South Africa’s total electricity generation capacity. The first of FutureGro's projects is the Holfontein Greenhouse & Biogas Project (HGBP) situated 80 km south west of Sandton City. This project will be the first private entity in South Africa producing fresh vegetables for supermarket chains, using renewable energy technology to grow the produce and supply electricity to local utility company Eskom, private enterprises or municipalities. The model will be replicated in South Africa and FutureGro is already assessing second project in development in the Gauteng, a few other project sites are in the pipeline in and around the major industrial centers.
