Founded in Monterrey since 2004, Fundación Luca (Spanish for Luca Foundation) is the official WSPA partner and the only Mexican animal welfare association that uses an integral approach to end animal abuse and overpopulation. Fundación Luca offers free preventive and emergency solutions through a sixfold permanent program system that includes: Education, Sterlization, Humanitarian Assistance at local pounds, Rescues, Adoptions, and Animal Assisted Activities. Yearly, our awareness program in schools reaches more than 20,000 children and 30,000 adults; Through our mobile clinic 6000 cats and dogs are neutered at no cost; More than 4000 cats and dogs in extreme pain are rescued; At local pounds, more than 50,000 deaths by electric shock are avoided and humanely assisted; 800 cats and dogs are given in adoption to responsible and loving families. Also, thanks to our Animal Assisted Activities, people in many different walks of life are greatly touched by the therapeutic impact animals’ unconditional love can offer, and easily understand the innate respect these wonderful, helpful beings deserve.
