“Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.” -The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 25 The mission of Food Bank Albania is to reduce POVERTY and HUNGER in Albania by providing food for the neediest members of society and to reduce the amount of FOOD WASTE produced in Albania. This mission is based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the belief that all people, regardless of their social status, have the right to fulfill their basic human needs. Furthermore, Food Bank Albania believes that, by putting food surpluses to constructive use, Albania can both alleviate poverty and address the environmental problems associated with food waste.
