Fonténel Spring Water (“ The fountain of the Nel’s) was established in 1998 by the Nel family. Our Natural Spring Water is bottled at the source, on the family farm called Mpopomeni (“Place of the Living Waters”) in the Mpumalanga region, from one of two natural free-flowing springs that meet each other halfway to cascade in a series of waterfalls through the Loskopdam Nature reserve on its way to the “Olifant’s-River” .After comparing a chemical analysis of the source- water to a analysis taken ten years earlier and finding the chemical composition more or less the same ( This is remarkable as it indicates that their was little to no contamination factors that influence the water quality over that period) Dr. Nel decided to investigate bottling the water. A geo- hydrological study conducted by the CSIR followed and they recommended that Fonténel go ahead with the bottling of the water due to its remarkable purity as indicated by the TDS ( Total dissolved solids count) of only 19mg/l , making it arguably but justifiably the “ The purest spring water in Africa” The help of the SABS ( South African Buro of Standards) was commissioned in planning the outlay of the factory in order to establish a world class bottling plant conforming to international standards , subsequently Fonténel Spring Water now bears the SABS mark of approval (The consumers assurance of the highest international & local quality standards at all time.) In our opinion it is very important to be audited on a regular basis by an independent authority like the SABS with the capability & reputation to monitor the quality of the manufacturing procedures & final product.
