Overview

The Lene Thun ONLUS Foundation offers a free recreational-therapy service through the clay modelling and it is mainly active at the pediatric cancer ward throughout the Italian territory. 42 Permanent Workshops in 23 Hospitals in the 2018 The method (consolidated through the establishment of a Scientific committee): the clay modelling has the aim to support the drug and medical therapy by stimulating the healthy side of children, their creativity, socialization and the game. Because we should make sure that these aspects will always be part of children's lives, even in hard conditions and contexts such the disease and the hospitalization, as their life quality always come first. Through the clay modelling, the method and service, the Foundation stands as one with families going through their daily struggle, trying to make the hospital to become a bit more of a child-friendly place. It pursues in two different ways: • Permanent Workshops: weekly workshops running all year long inside Hospital Pediatric departments (mainly hematology-oncology, day hospital and neuropsychiatry units) with long stay patients. • Special Workshops: intensive and time-limited workshops, offered to those partners operating with children and teenagers affected by severe chronic illnesses (i.e. children affected by SMA disease or who have suffered a traumatic experience, like an earthquake). There are so many ways to support the Foundation: • becoming a volunteer • by donating your 5x1000 • by going at one of those THUN Shop "Amici della Fondazione" (Foundation's Friends) and asking for the "Filo d'Amore" (Thread of Love). This is not just a bracelet. It is our way to say "thank you". It is a thread that links people together while becoming a symbol of "Adoption". Because, through a free donation, you will adopt one of those workshops at the Hospital where we provide our clay modelling service.
