Overview

Filmanthropy (https://www.filmanthropy.co.uk/) is a production company that specialises in using media as a tool for social good. We believe that visual and creative media are great tools for citizens to make a real difference to society and are determined to make sure that a lack of media literacy or access to resources does not present a barrier to this. So, through participatory video creation and unique community-based workshops, we empower disenfranchised communities to create their own content; amplifying their voices and helping them to share and explore their experiences. For us, the content creation process is equally as important as the content itself, so we arm communities with the tools and know-how to capture their own narratives. We have collaborated with a number of organisations to do this work, from small local groups to internationally-recognised organisations, including: All England Lawn Tennis Club, Amnesty International, Princes Trust, YMCA, Inclusion London, Partnership for Young London, Local Authorities and Voluntary Service Councils. And we have run workshops and programmes in a variety of spaces, including public libraries, museums, youth centres, PRUs and advice centres for unaccompanied minors/refugees. Our unique approach has resulted in some multi-award winning projects.
