(UAB) and speciallized in the development of products obtained from cultures of cells and microorganisms either bacterium, fungi or yeast, genetically modified or not, on a semi-industrial scale. PPF is located in a laboratory belonging to the Chemical Engineering Department of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). The Centre is linked to this Department and uses its basic infrastructure. Within the development of its activities, the Fermentation Pilot Plant has the following aims: - To promote the innovation and improvement of the productive processes in the industrial world, offering scientific and technological background in developing processes based on the microorganisms culturing area. - To work under the directions of a Quality Control System, in order to obtain a higher efficiency in the development of the projects and adapting itself to the norms and requirements to which industries are subjected. - To guarantee the confidentiality of processes and products. - To maintain the maximum flexibility of the development of the projects, adapting them to the final objective of the customer and the evolution of the project itself.
