The FentaNIL Project

Overview

Founded in 2018, The FentaNIL Project is a student-led initiative based out of the University of Alberta. The FentaNIL Project aims to ameliorate the detrimental effects of the overdose crisis in Edmonton and the greater Alberta, including rural communities, by facilitating free naloxone training, distributing take-home naloxone kits, and educating community members on overdose prevention strategies and synthetic opioids. To date, The FentaNIL Project has trained over 600 campus and community members how to identify and respond to an opioid overdose. Our group received a University of Alberta Wellness Champion Award in the 2018/2019 academic year for this feat.
