Feed My People

Overview

Feed My People, a Christian inter-denominational organization, strives to show God's love and compassion to all His people, but particularly to His people in need. It all started in 1982 with one bag of groceries and a desire to help our neighbors in need. Now, we provide nearly $4 million worth of food and other assistance each year .Feed My People was founded in 1982 by Carol and John DeGuire to meet the growing needs of the poor in South St. Louis County. "We treat each person who comes to us for help with dignity. Besides their daily needs, we try to give them hope for a brighter future, and let them know that we care and that God cares." Our primary goal was to provide food, but the need and opportunity to do more for our clients expanded our vision to include another office in Fenton MO, opened in 1989. This office moved to High Ridge in 1997 and serves those in need living in southwest St. Louis County and northwest Jefferson County. Serving 16 zip codes from the Mississippi River to Pacific at the Franklin County Line, and from I-44 to the Meramec River and beyond, Feed My People is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the St. Louis area. In 1999, Feed My People took over an apartment complex of 48 units directly across from our South County Office, with a commitment to provide housing for low income working people. In 2004, Feed My People, working in conjunction with Rebuilding Together-St. Louis, started rehabbing homes of the elderly and handicapped in South St. Louis County and more recently it has been rehabbing in conjunction with the Lemay Housing Partnership. Today, Feed My People has over 25 programs, including a Thrift Store at each location as primarily a service to our clients, but is also open to the public. Feed My People is supported by donations from individuals, schools, churches, businesses, foundations and community groups. Feed My people has grown to an organization helping over 80,000 people each year.
