Family Drug Support

Overview

Family Drug Support (FDS) is a non-government organisation which provides non-judgemental, non-directive support and information to families, friends and carers of people who have problematic alcohol and other drug (AOD) use across Australia. We focus on assisting families who are supporting a person problematically using AOD in a way that strengthens relationships and achieves positive outcomes. Our services include a 24-hour national support line, family support meetings, educational programs and online information and tools. FDS has over 20 years of experience supporting families through our programs including the national support line, staffed by volunteers, as well as a range of support and information courses across Australia every year. These programs include our flagship Stepping Stones course for families, Stepping Forward information sessions for a wider audience, family support groups, remembrance ceremonies and various workshops and in-service events. FDS programs are well attended and have received recognition including Gold Award from the Institute of Group Leaders for Stepping Stones, NADA Commendation for Excellence in Research and Evaluation and consistently favourable evaluation from program participants. Please phone 1300 368 186 if you need support – “Supporting families affected by alcohol and other drugs”
