Overview

The year was 1949 when a courageous businessman in Prato, Tuscany, experimented with the use of noble yarns in order to create precious fabrics. His name was Faliero Sarti and his know-how allowed the company to soar to a highly acclaimed position in the fashion world. His son Roberto still continues today to make the textile world evolve, while Monica, third generation, has developed while preserving the important legacy in its entirety, a new universe of scarves which are extremely light on the body, softly sensual to the touch, full of meanings and flavours. Thanks to her extensive experience accrued in the woollen mill and in the style offices of important international fashion brands, the designer developed her first scarf collection in 2000, destined to revolutionise the entire sector. What until then had been considered a British-inspired accessory, a narrow cut of cloth often at the limits of rigidity, was transformed into a colourful cloud to be wrapped gently around the neck. Not only did the scarf lose its canonical (and superfluous) fringes, but it also grew much bigger, representing the ideal space on which to tell a story for making the wearer dream. The most sophisticated boutiques have opened their doors to Faliero Sarti, by now the leader of a new way of interpreting scarves, hence the business has been consolidated at an international level, thanks to an eco-friendly production chain controlled from start to finish and almost completely verticalized. While the woollen mill continues to supply the most important fashion houses with top-of-the-range fabrics, Monica has been conquering the interest of end customers thanks to her accessories which are available in over 1,200 stores worldwide, including mono-brand boutiques.
