Overview

Faculty of Philosophy is a member of the University of Banja Luka, the largest university in the Republic of Srpska and the second largest university in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We were officially founded in 1994, continuing the heritage of the Higher School of Pedagogy (1950 – 1969), and the Pedagogical Academy (1969 – 1994). Our Faculty offers the following study programs: Philosophy, History, Pedagogy, Psychology, Teachers’ Education, and Preschool Education. All our study programs lead towards Bachelor and Master’s degrees, while Pedagogy and Teachers’ Education programs offer doctoral studies as well. We have between 1000 and 1500 students per academic year, with around 100 teachers, teaching assistants, administrative and technical staff members. Our vision is a stimulant and pleasant study atmosphere supported by high quality and accessible academic staff, innovative study programs, creative extra-curricular activities, and positive impact on the wider community. Our goals focus on improving the following as pects of our work: academic and scientific productivity, extra-curricular activities, publishing activities, material and technical work conditions, international cooperation and mobility, cooperation with the wider community through joint projects, employability of our graduates, etc. Our mission is to produce high quality teaching and research professionals in the fields of social sciences and humanities. We educate future philosophers, historians, preschool and elementary school teachers, educators and psychologists. So far, we have awarded up to 6.500 Bachelors of Arts, 550 Masters of Arts, and 130 Doctoral degrees. Our diplomas have been recognized and validated across all continents. Our graduates work in various educational, scientific, cultural and health institutions, governmental and non-governmental organizations, public and private companies (e.g., schools, kindergartens, hospitals, centers for mental health, libraries, museums ...
