Founded by author and academic Gem Barton, 'experimental realism' began as a bespoke teaching methodology (pedagogy) for research-led speculative spatial design work. Since its organic inception, 'experimental realism' as pedagogy has developed in a global community of speculative architecture and design academics and practitioners, a book (published by RIBA publishing) due to market mid 2022, and a global online graduate mentoring programme (#ExRe2021).
