Overview

Founded on May 22, 2009 by mandate of the European Commission, EUTW is one of the 27 centres worldwide that EU has established since 1998 in prestigious universities in developed countries. The scope was to promote EU research globally by encouraging civil and academia cooperation and exchange between the EU and third countries. The European Commission creates the linkage among all the centres in order to form global and regional networks that promote studies about the EU. The Consortium forming EUTW consists of seven major universities in Taiwan: National Taiwan University (NTU) -leading institution, National Chengchi University (NCCU), Tamkang University (TKU), Catholic Fu-Jen University (FJU), National Dong Hua University (NDHU), National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) and National Sun Yat Sen University (NSYSU). The mission of EUTW: 1. Become the domestic platform for exchanges and cooperation for the study of the EU and EU policies; become the interface for international exchange between Taiwan and EU research communities; 2. Promote advanced research of the EU and the EU policies; 3. Facilitate the academia and civil society interaction between EU and Taiwan for mutual understanding. 4. Advance the comprehension of EU policies to Taiwanese population; 5. Participate actively in global and EU Asia interconnected systems.
