Overview

The European Music Council (EMC) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the development and promotion of all kinds of music in Europe. It is a network of networks involved in the fields of music education, creation, performance, documentation, management, publishing and heritage. The EMC is a membership organisation representing all levels of professionalism; from amateurs, to music students, to recognised professional musicians and covering all music genres. The EMC highly values musical diversity and promotes the 5 music rights as proclaimed by the IMC. It provides exceptional value to its members through the analysis of policy developments and formulation of policy statements; capacity building and knowledge exchange, as well as creating networking opportunities within and beyond the music sector on an international platform. With the European Agenda for Music it contributes to a musically thriving Europe and aims at setting out priorities for the music sector in Europe for the years to come. The European Agenda for Music has a horizontal approach and brings together the music industry and the civil society organisations for music. Currently, the EMC leads an Erasmus+ funded project on three Sustainable Development Goals "SHIFT - Shared Initiatives For Training". SHIFT offers guidelines and toolkits on how to achieve SDG5 - Gender Equality; SDG10 - Reduced Inequalities and SDG13 - Climate Action through leadership lenses and how change can be achieved in cultural organisations in order to attain this goals.
