Overview

EuroMoonMars (EMM) is an initiative founded by the International Lunar Exploration Working Group (ILEWG) as part of research efforts towards the colonization of the Moon and eventually Mars. EMM comprises field campaigns in lunar or Martian analogue environments, regular workshops to stimulate exchange in the various fields of space science and research, and international collaborations with actors of the space sector. The EMM campaigns consist of research activities for data analysis, instrument tests and development, field tests in Moon and Mars analogues, pilot projects, analog astronaut training, and hands-on workshops and outreach activities. Specific locations of technical, scientific and exploration interest are selected for EMM field campaigns, such as the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in Utah for the 2009 EuroGeoMars campaign or the Hawai'i Space Exploration Analog and Simulation (HI-SEAS) habitat for an ongoing series of EMMIHS (EuroMoonMars, IMA and HI-SEAS) campaigns in Hawai'i.
