Overview

Mission Statement E.S. Cropconsult (ES) is committed to assisting farmers in maximizing their crop value. Applying the principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), we monitor crops and provide agronomic advice on insect, mite and disease management. We conduct research to find new management tools that are economically and environmentally sound pest management strategies. Our service enables farmers to confidently reduce unnecessary inputs. We are passionate about local agriculture. We are continually learning and expanding our knowledge base on all aspects of IPM and related disciplines (entomology, soil science, plant pathology, etc.). We strive to develop and foster long term relationships with our grower clients. Our commitment to our clients and ourselves is to remain current in our knowledge about the science and practice of IPM. Description of Business ES provides IPM services in the Greater Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Pemberton areas, as well as other parts of southern BC, to a broad range of agricultural and horticultural commodities. At present, we service over 10,000 acres of agricultural commodities including potato, cabbage, organic vegetables, cranberry, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and hops. We also provide a number of professional services including blueberry scorch/shock virus testing, quality control assessment, nutrient sampling, environmental farm planning, as well as farm and project management. Our research projects focus on all aspects of the IPM tool box, including biological, cultural, physical, and chemical controls on all pests. Our research questions are driven by industry needs and priorities. Many of our research projects include outreach materials and presentations, to share our findings. Research results are often presented at the Lower Mainland Horticulture Growers Short Course at the Abbotsford TRADEX in January, as well as during other grower group or industry lead meetings.
