Overview

EMΣT, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens is the leading institution for contemporary art and visual culture in Greece, and one of the flagship institutions in Southern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. EMΣT develops narratives that try to make sense of our complex and accelerated present in which humanity struggles to keep up with the galloping pace of change. At the same time, the museum aims to foster an understanding of our past choices from the perspective of current circumstances with a view towards future possibilities. EMΣT believes that art and culture in general are vital to ‘thinking the world’, creating new values for the future, and imagining it otherwise. EMΣΤ, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens, is located at Kallirrois Avenue & Amvrosiou Frantzi Street in the former Fix brewery and is a 10’ walk from the Acropolis Museum and 2’ walk from the metro station SYNGROU-FIX (Line 2). Access for people with reduced mobility is at the entrance on Syngrou Avenue. Opening hours: Tuesday – Sunday 11 am – 7 pm Late opening Thursdays 11 am – 10 pm EMΣΤ is funded by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports
