Overview
The European Law Students’ Association Leuven is an organisation run by and for law students, independent from and rid of any political preferences and with an open view towards Europe and the world. We are also officially recognised by the Leuven Law Faculty. One of the goals of ELSA Leuven is to participate and aid in the cultural and academic development which transforms law students into young lawyers. This is achieved by encouraging mutual understanding and cooperation and creating personal ties between law students and young lawyers from all over Europe. As an organisation, we strive to provide our members with the interests, insights and abilities which can bridge the gap between a thrilling student life and a successful professional career. To achieve these goas, we organise lectures, international internships, legal trips eg. to Paris, The Hague and New York, study visits to several international institutions, debates, workshops, meetings with the professional world and lawyers, and much more. Our whole project is powered by our vision: “A just world, in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity.” We can also count on the support of our international network : ELSA Leuven is a part of a much bigger organisation. ELSA International is the biggest law student organisation in Europe and has more than 40.000 members. It has also received special status with several other international organisations such as UN ECOSOC, UNESCO, WIPO and the Council of Europe.
