ELSA Durham - The European Law Students' Association

Legal Services

Overview

ELSA is the largest independent law student association in the world, providing prospective lawyers with opportunities to develop their personal and legal skills both academically and professionally, and equipping them with an international perspective to broaden their career prospects. ELSA provides opportunities such as work experience, specialist study, diplomatic exposure, published work and mooting competitions. Through these opportunities, ELSA helps students gain a deeper understanding of varying international legal frameworks and cultures, and creates a wider, global network its members can benefit from through critical dialogue and co-operation. ELSA prepares law students to be internationally minded and profesionally skilled. Our motto enshrines the organization's commitment to "contribute to legal education, to foster mutual understanding, and to promote social responsibility." The Durham Local Group aims to create stronger bonds between Durham students, guide and support them in their professional ambitions and promote respect for inclusivity and cooperation in the legal profession. We host and participate in a range of academic and professional events throughout the year, including the Student Trainee Exchange Programme, Moot Court Competitions, Delegations and much more.
