Overview

Elliniki Agogi is a School teaching the ancient Greek language, History and Philosophy to adults and children since 1994. The method used for 25 consecutive years is based on Antisthenes’ saying “Ἀρχή Σοφίας ἡ τῶν ὀνομάτων ἐπίσκεψις”/“the beginning of education is the examination of names”. Teaching is based on the active role of etymological analysis of words, intended to foster the timelessness of Ancient Greek language. Using the living languages' method, the language is being taught as it is still spoken. This method is used broadly in Europe, where the Ancient Greek language is taught even at an early age, since it is believed that teaching Greek in primary schools helps children's own language.
