Overview

EFFECT is a H2020 European project focused on the test and development of innovative contracts in the agro-environmental field, with the ambition to combine local farmers’ needs and benefits with the pursue of environmental and climate public goods. The project is based on previous experiences, and on the cross-country and interdisciplinary contribution of academic and technical partners, coming from different fields: natural sciences, agronomy, law, economy, political sciences. Nine innovation cases across Europe constitute the empirical side of the project. The design and implementation of the new contracts is strongly based on the active collaboration of local farmers and local communities, taking into serious consideration social and behavioral aspects of farmers’ decision making. Beyond the empowerment of local agriculture and the advancement of academic knowledge, EFFECT gives new inputs to decision makers and agricultural stakeholders on effective design of agri-environmental contracts.
