Every year, 2.3 million U.S. high school students dropout of school, resulting in one drop out every 15 seconds. The leading causes of school dropouts are boredom and the inability to connect the relevance of their school work to their future aspirations. The mission of EdXperience is to cultivate intrinsic motivation in students to complete their high school education and achieve their dreams, through self-realization of interest and experiencing their own success story. Our product, "The MES" (Motivational Education Simulator), is a virtual reality program that is used as a technological aid for school guidance counselors. With an easy-to-use control platform, the guidance counselor can create virtual simulations for students to experience different careers and explore their interests. It allows the guidance counselor to track the development of interests and the career aspirations of their students. The students dive into a virtual world where they explore, observe, experience, and learn about different professions ranging from a tour guide to a lawyer. For each profession, the MES will relate the relevance of their current coursework in the journey to realize that profession. This way, the students will be able to connect what they are learning in the classroom to their career aspirations. Finding an unimagined dream can boost motivation and improve school performance-- a motivated class is a fun class to teach! Our vision is to become a company that influences a 10% change in student retention rates in the U.S. Our key performance indicators are an improvement in attendance, school grades, and discipline. EdXperience is a startup born at the European Innovation Academy in July 2018.
