E-Cell, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai is an archetype to foster budding Social and Business Entrepreneurs. It was established in the year 2010. It facilitates an ecosystem for venture creation by nurturing entrepreneurial skills, management tools, and social perspective in students. E-Cell promotes Ideation, Innovation, and Implementation by hosting multiple E-talks, workshops, speaker sessions and various other competitions. Every year we host India's largest Social Entrepreneurship Summit- ''iPreneur". It provides a platform for budding social enterprises, early stage social enterprises, industry experts, investors from the space of social entrepreneurship to discuss ideas, innovations in social start-up. Social Venture Challenge is one of the main attractions of iPreneur. In previous years many eminent speakers like Sonam Wangchuk, Pawan Aggarwal, Shaheen Mistri, Meagan Fallone, Harish Hande, Anand Kumar, N K Chaudhary, Joe Madiath, Prakash Baba Amte, Radhakrishnan Pillai etc. have graced the event. Every year we also organize a "Social Entrepreneurship Yatra". it is an entrepreneurial journey of a full 1 day which brings the social entrepreneurial fraternity of students, practitioners and enthusiasts together in a bus ride to acclaimed social enterprises in and around Mumbai. In the year 2020 during Covid-19 Lockdown period we started an initiative named "SAHAAY: ek aur prayaas" to provide relief assistance to people who were affected by the lockdown. Over the period of 3months we supported more than 2500+ lives with basic consumables across India. We also have 2 different initiatives to provide support to the student community and early stage social ventures :- 1) Jigyasa TISS : An affordable learning platform for all the learners to empower them with industry relevant knowledge and skills. 2) Internship Cell : Working towards providing internship opportunities to all the students of TISS, in the Development sector and social enterprises.
