Overview

EAGxAustralia is the annual conference for the effective altruism community in Australia and Oceania. Our aim for the conference is to increase attendees' knowledge, skills and networks to help them to achieve as much good as possible. Effective altruism is about answering one simple question: how can we use our resources to help others the most? Rather than just follow intuitions, we believe that we should use evidence and careful analysis to find the most important causes and the best ways to work on them. This year’s conference will be held on the 28th and 29th of September 2019 at the University of Sydney Business School. Tickets include the full weekend conference with catering as well as a ticket to our Friday night keynote event on the 27th, and a social event on Saturday the 28th. At the conference you will have the opportunity to: - Meet like-minded, altruistic people - Discover how you can do good better - Familiarise yourself with core concepts within effective altruism - Attend dozens of talks and workshops - Discuss the latest ideas in the field of effective altruism - Share new research and ideas - Coordinate on global and local projects with experts in creating impact We will have international and domestic EA experts discussing a wide range of areas, from established EA topic such as global poverty, AI, animal welfare and EA community building, to emerging areas of interest, such as mental health, anti-aging, biotech policy, reducing power war risks, geoengineering, and nuclear non-proliferation. Tickets are $120 full price and $70 for those attending with a concession. We have a limited number of scholarships for those in financial need. We have limited capacity and expect to sell out our venue, so please make sure to secure a place as soon as you can. All tickets are fully refundable until the date of the conference so there is no risk in buying early as you can always get a refund if you need it later.
