Durham International brings 600 years of educational excellence to Kenya. Our launch marks the first time that a British school has opened a branch in Kenya, and we aim to prepare our students with the skills required to tackle the challenges of the 21st century whilst retaining a sense of the traditional values you’d expect from one of the oldest schools in the UK. Durham Kenya officially opened in January 2021, with our Nursery & Pre-Prep School in Thigiri, offering unparalleled early education for children aged 6 months to 7 years old. We draw on the experience of Durham School UK, and from the success of Durham School for Girls Doha, which opened in September 2019. While our current focus is on creating an exceptional early years experience in Nairobi, we look forward to growing in the coming years, with plans for a full primary and secondary school. Durham International Nursery & Pre-Prep School provides a first-class education based around the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 framework, but with a holistic approach that incorporates the best principles from a variety of educational approaches. Through play based activities, we deliver a range of learning opportunities designed to be engaging, challenging, motivating and fun. Our leafy, green Thigiri location provides a safe and nurturing environment, with facilities that allow children to develop, explore and create. Our school offers a heated swimming pool, a music studio, a dance studio, an art workshop and an IT suite, all in addition to our play areas and spacious grounds. We are committed to ensuring that your child's first experience of education is one filled with happiness, where they develop a love for learning and a ‘Confidence for Life’. Registration is open for children entering Little Durham, Playgroup, Foundation Stage 1 (FS1), Foundation Stage 2 (FS2) and Year 1. Admissions for Year 2 will be accepted for the academic year commencing September 2022.
