Overview

Down Syndrome UK (DSUK) is a national charity passionate about empowering parents and professionals to improve the lives of those with Down syndrome and their families in the UK. Where we stand: We want our children to be valued and included in the communities in which we live, to have the choice to attend their local mainstream school and when old enough to work; not to encounter barriers, but instead to be welcomed and embraced within society. We aim to inform and educate as widely as possible to ensure that our children are able to become valued friends and colleagues without many outdated stereotypes and prejudices restricting friendships and working relationships. Under the Down Syndrome UK umbrella, we have four key initiatives... Positive About Down Syndrome: Providing information, support and resources to expectant, new and preschool parents. We collaborate with maternity units across the UK to ensure expectant and new parents have access to ongoing support and contemporary accurate information regarding Down syndrome. ST&R: Support Training & Resources for parents and professionals of those of school age. Pants4School: Enabling children with Down syndrome to be toilet trained in time to start in pants4school! DSUK Network: A forum to help with promoting and supporting local Down syndrome support groups.
