Overview

Our entire focus is to support local children and young adults who all have serious, complex, life-limiting or life threatening conditions and their families throughout Staffordshire and Cheshire. Our overarching aim is to bring our families a sense of normality, so often taken for granted by us all, to help them remember that they are parents first and foremost and carers second, which is sometimes forgotten or overlooked. In March 2021 The Donna Louise was amalgamated into Douglas Macmillan Hospice (Dougie Mac). Operating as one hospice, across two sites and out in the community, we will offer a broad spectrum of palliative and end of life care services for children, young people and adults. The unification of children and adult sevices is a landmark achievement which will ensure local people and their families continue to receive exceptional care for as long as they need it. Every moment a child spends with us is precious. We tailor our package of care to provide the best possible care and support, always shaped by the changing needs of the children and families that we serve, so that they feel informed and supported and involved, to a level that suits their individual medical, emotional and spiritual needs. People often fail to think about the impact a child’s illness can have on the whole family, who often themselves provide constant care around the clock; but with the help of the dedicated, specialist team at The Donna Louise none of our families need go through this alone.
