It is our hope and belief that ideas, products, and platforms that are discussed in this unique conference can become the foundation for the next generation of dermatology products and technologies. This summit stands to benefit from the proliferation of research pinpointing mechanisms of diseases in skin and from other fields of medicine that can be applied to unmet clinical needs in dermatology. Moreover, the opportunity to do proof-of-concept clinical studies quickly and relatively inexpensively in dermatology gives us advantages not found in other disease areas. Dermatology has not always been a focus of the largest pharmaceutical and medical device companies, but we firmly believe opportunities abound for the savvy physician, entrepreneur, inventor, investor, and corporate executive to participate in innovation in dermatology.
