We are an eco-conscious business that provides sustainable and upcycled products. We repurpose almost everything around us, which would have been thrown away otherwise. Our business was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic in October 2020. We faced many obstacles with the pandemic,but we kept going. Derana By Tara started with the main purpose of encouraging Sri Lankans towards sustainable living and enlightening them about matters such as global warming and climate change. Our main goal is to reduce waste by repurposing ,reusing or upcycling old material. All our products are homemade in our small island. We collect used material such as plastic bags and fabric from our home, other small businesses and other homes and upcycle them. We upcycle old plastic bags into earrings and we repurpose fabric into cute scrunchies. We use coconut shells from our back garden to make scented coconut shell candles. We want to let you know that even the smallest of actions makes the biggest differences. You could be saving a life by carrying a reusable metal straw with you or saying no to single-use plastic packaging. Do what you can even if it’s the simplest thing.
