Overview

What do we do here at Delaware Center for Health and Wellness? Well take a look below: Health and wellness Coaches work with clients to improve their health, vitality, and well-being by engaging in behaviors that have been proven to improve health and prevent disease including weight loss, fitness, nutrition, stress coping, sleep, mind-body and positive psychology interventions. A wellness coach will integrate exercise and activity level as part of a holistic approach to well being, whereas a health coach would focus more on physical improvement and specific health goals. Wellness coaches can meet with their clients in group sessions or in one-to-one meetings to create long-term success. As a result, the demand for qualified health coaches—and the number of roles available for these individuals—is increasing every day. Individuals from other fields are now pursuing health coaching as a viable and fulfilling career direction. Still, getting started in any new career requires a leap of faith. As a Health Coach, we do not diagnose, treat, prescribe, interpret medical results, write food plans, nor recommend supplements. Keeping within the scope of practice simply means we are our client's accountability partner and educator to help collaborate and navigate through the plans of the professional. As a general rule, the NBHWC holds the position that health and wellness coaches should manage client/patient personal health information and records according to the policies and procedures as established by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
