Overview

The Corporate Climate Alliance is a nonprofit designed for CEOs wanting to take action to reduce climate change and the risks it poses to their businesses. Facing ever-worsening climate trends, the world community has reached, to quote Andy Grove, a “strategic inflection point”— a now-or-never moment when significant action is crucial. In 2016, the World Economic Forum's annual report on global risks for the first time lists “failure of climate change mitigation and adaptation” as the “most potentially impactful” global risk. We as corporate leaders are not immune to the impending negative consequences of an unpredictable climate. The damage caused by the effects of hydrocarbons on the environment has been devastating, to the extent that we are starting to witness considerable impacts on our businesses. We can no longer turn a blind eye to these developments; climate-conscious decision making is good for the planet first and foremost, but it simultaneously ensures the longevity of our corporations and the industries wherein they operate. The US Government, meanwhile, continues to provide massive subsidies to the companies causing the most damage, while providing significantly less to those businesses and organizations fighting to effect positive change. Acting on an awareness of this imbalance, a group of corporations joined in 2016 to form The Corporate Climate Alliance.
