Connector Programme

Overview

The Connector Programme sees students and staff at the University of Sussex working as equal partners; learning, innovating and co-creating together to improve the student experience. Students and Staff Connectors have equal input and responsibility as they work together on key areas finding solutions that truly reflect the needs and wants of our community. Through co-creation, Connector teams develop careers support, improve academic experience, and foster a sense of community within the university. The Connector Programme started in January 2020 with 12 Student Connectors, and has grown exponentially since then. By July 2021 there were over 200 Student Connectors partnering with staff on 30 different projects across the university, and by January 2022, there were over 400 Student Connectors on an even greater variety of projects. Over the coming years, we are looking to continually grow the size and reach of the programme. The Connector Programme benefits students, staff and the wider university community by: - Ensuring that the university is reflective of the needs and wants of our diverse student body by engaging students in decision making - Fostering a sense of community and belongingness by building collaborative and equal relationships between students and staff - Providing opportunities for students to gain valuable working experience in a supportive environment which builds personal and professional skills and confidence in a paid role.
