Overview

The first National Black Women’s Congress was established in 1973 to provide a national forum to address the concerns of Black women. The vision focus from the beginning was to assist black women and their families with issues of concern that affect them and to bring improvement to their lives. The woman who was the driving force behind the first National Black women’s Congress was Kay Livingstone. It is our mandate to address the social, economic and cultural issues and needs of Black Women regardless of ability, age, ancestry, citizenship, class, culture, ethnicity, marital status, place of birth, religion or sexual orientation We welcome all Black women sixteen years of age and older for individual membership in the Congress. Members of the London Chapter of the Congress, upon payment of their required fees, are automatically affiliated with the Ontario and the National Congress of Black Women of Canada. We are always ready to accept new members. You can reach us at - https://cbwlondon.org/who-we-are/membership/ We are a volunteer run, Non-profit; we finance our projects largely through donations.
