Overview

Community Housing & Therapy (CHT) is a leading provider of Recovery Communities - 'where relationships are the treatment' - Helping People Get a Life Worth Living We are only one of a handful of organisations providing specialised housing in recovery communities with integrated therapy and therapeutic activities to adults (18+) experiencing complex and severe mental health difficulties, including psychosis and personality disorders. Relationship building is at the heart of what we do. Our staff develop authentic relationships with beneficiaries in order to help them grow. We work with people at moments of key transition and many of our clients come to us from traditional psychiatric units which have limited ability to provide tailored, individual support to allow people with acute mental health problems to re-integrate into the community. Our Approach Our unique model is key to our approach. The model incorporates a Therapeutic Community approach with the latest perspectives on Psychologically Informed Environments (PIEs). Crucially, the model integrates a participative and democratic recovery approach. People who benefit from our work are invited to co-create and be involved as equals in their recovery and in the running of the homes and organisation. CHT's approach emphasises individual recovery within a social community framework, encouraging participation in activities inside and outside CHT housing; support in maintaining and enjoying housing through reduction of social exclusion; a focus on reflection, learning and self-development; and a belief in the capacity of people to recover and to achieve more of their potential and more of their aspirations. Our services can provide a complete pathway for our clients from residential care settings with intensive staff support to more independent settings in supported living environments where clients hold thier own tenancies.
