Overview

COHiTEC is a free training program in technology commercialization aimed at supporting the valuation of the knowledge produced at Portuguese R&D institutions. The Program aims to help researchers assess the commercial viability of the products or services that can be obtained from their technologies, as well as to induce entrepreneurial and technology commercialization skills in the participants. COHiTEC offers free of charge training and mentoring, helping researchers move from the lab to the market. So far, 151 projects have been supported, and 26 high-tech startups were created, which attracted an investment of more than €35M. The COHiTEC Program was created in 2004 and is an initiative of COTEC Portugal - Associação Empresarial para a Inovação, with the sponsorship of Grupo CGD and the training support of Porto Business School, Nova School of Business and Economics and of professors from the US universities of Brown, North Carolina State and Rutgers.
