Overview

COEP's satellite Initiative or CSAT is a multidisciplinary organization which is subdivided into 6 subsystems namely - ADCS (Attitude Determination and Control Subsystem), Power, On-board Computer, Communications, Structures, Payload. Since it's inception in 2008 it has successfully developed and fabricated it's 1st satellite - SWAYAM, with an aim to demonstrate passive attitude stabilization. SWAYAM was India's first passively stabilized satellite and it completed its mission life of 1 year. Currently, CSAT is in the integration phase of it's second satellite mission COEPSAT-2, with an aim to demonstrate orbit raising using solar sails i.e. channeling solar thrust in order to raise the satellite's orbit. The utility of the satellite is to collect charge particle count in different orbits the satellite would pass through.
